Vachel Lindsay: staged poetry events, which he called poetry games, with dancers swaying to the rhythms of his poems and the banging of pots with wooden spoons. http://www.thecascadiacourier.com/2013/12/the-inventions-of-spokane-and.html

And I just wish, I just wish I could remember the curve of your cheekbone, Rosalyn Drexler. Fax machines, rubyfruit jungle. Harold Lloyd, fireflies. Bright lights, big city.

... So, I mean, I mean: sheesh! a reverie could blithely sing to the future, or trench warfare… a/ cloud in 2014, or last Easter, or an STD rash in any inglorious month of Sundays.

Screeching owls, moonbeams, woodcuts. Kate Chopin. Free ringtones. Homina, Homina. [soft & far off: beginning riff from O Superman] P-P-Pa-Pocketa-pocketa.Pocketa…. http://www.haggardandhalloo.com/2011/03/04/aarrrgh-as-experience/

------------------------------ THE TYGER (from Songs Of Experience)

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright In the forests of the night, What immortal hand or eye Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies Burnt the fire of thine eyes? On what wings dare he aspire? What the hand, dare sieze the fire?

When the stars threw down their spears, And watered heaven with their tears, Did he smile his work to see? Did he who made the Lamb make thee?

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright In the forests of the night, What immortal hand or eye Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

1794, By William Blake

JULY 28, Manny Cartagena at Midtown Scholar Bookstore

MANNY CARTAGENA FEATURED at POETRY THURSDAYS The featured performer, July 28 at the Midtown Scholar Bookstore’s Poetry Thursdays, a continuing series, hosted by the Almost Uptown Poetry Cartel will be the incomparable Manny Cartagena.

He’s performed extensively throughout the Middle–Atlantic states. Cartagena is currently compiling a book of drawings, expected to be released in late autumn.
